Best of Show

There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Best of Show award for Beers, Meads and Ciders combined.  There is also one additional award for Best JWU Student Entry, to encourage our newest generation of home brewers.

Awards will be granted at the discretion of the judges, according to the standards and principles of the BJCP 2015 Guidelines.  Categories may be combined at the discretion of the competition directors, based upon the number of actual entries in any category, and for the purposes of judging similar styles across categories.

First, Second, and Third Place Awards will be given in all judged categories, or as deemed appropriate by the judges.  Honorable Mention awards in any category will be awarded at the discretion of the individual judging panels.

All awards consist of high-quality custom OSHC gold, silver and bronze medals. Additional swag awards for winners are granted by our generous sponsors.  These may consist of donated gift certificates or merchandise.

OUR AWARDS CEREMONY WILL BE OPEN TO ALL ENTRANTS TO ATTEND, Sunday, 3/5 at 2:30 PM. Ribbons and prizes will be given out to winners in attendance.  Score sheets may be given out if available.

Incredible CHARITY RAFFLE to follow, tons of merchandise, gift certificates and brewing equipment and supplies from across the country, all to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.  GRAND PRIZE is a Freshly-Dumped 10-Gallon Oak WHISKEY BARREL, donated by our amazing friends at Sons of Liberty Distilling!

Raffle tickets are 5 for $5, or $10/dozen, PLUS 1 ticket per non-perishable food item that you bring for the food bank after regular ticket purchase.  Judges and stewards receive 5 tickets per round of judging worked at the event.  You MUST BE PRESENT to win.

Score sheets will be scanned and available on the website within 72 hours after the end of all judging.  Awards will be sent via USPS to all participants within 2 weeks after the event.  Please ensure that your registration information has your correct mailing information.  We reserve the right to exchange bulky prizes for ones of approximate equal value when shipping.  The OSHC is not responsible for delays or lost mail, and we do not keep copies of the originals.

Circuit Qualification

As one of the largest homebrew competitions in the northeast, the OSHC is working to become a GABF Pro-Am qualifying event.  All winners must be current AHA members.  This is not yet the case for 2017, but we will let you know if that changes before the competition weekend.
